Leaving the Australian Defence Force, or supporting someone who is brings big questions about what comes next. RSL WA helps veterans, current serving members, partners and families across Western Australia find meaningful civilian work through RSL WA Workforce Connect, our dedicated employment, education and career support service.
What is RSL WA Workforce Connect?
RSL WA Workforce Connect is RSL WA's specialist veteran employment program. It brings career guidance, job-readiness support, training pathways and direct employer connections together in one place all free of charge to veterans and their families.
Transition looks different for everyone. For some it means landing a job quickly. For others it means changing direction, gaining a qualification, rebuilding confidence or simply working out where to start. Workforce Connect meets you wherever you are in that process, and stays involved well after a placement is made.
The program has its own website, jobs board and team of employment consultants.
How Workforce Connect supports your career
Support is tailored to the individual and can include:
- Career guidance and pathway planning Working out your goals and the steps to reach them
- Skills translation Turning military experience, training and qualifications into language civilian employers understand
- Resume and cover letter support Including help building one from scratch
- Interview preparation Practising and refining how you present your experience
- Training and tickets First Aid, White Card, HR licence and further education pathways
- Employer connections Direct referrals to organisations across WA actively seeking veteran talent
- Ongoing mentoring Continued support after you start your new role

Workforce Connect maintains a live jobs board featuring roles from WA employers who value military experience spanning mining and resources, defence industry, construction and trades, logistics, healthcare, technology, government and professional services.
Support for partners and families
Military life affects the whole family. Postings, deployments and relocations can interrupt a partner's career or leave gaps on a resume that are difficult to explain.
Workforce Connect extends the same free support to partners, spouses and immediate family members of serving and ex-serving personnel including resume assistance, identifying skills gained through paid and unpaid work, training pathways and job matching. You don't need to wait until your family member has transitioned out of the ADF to register.
Who can access Workforce Connect
The program is open to:
- Veterans at any stage of their post-service career, including those who served at least one full day in the ADF
- Current serving ADF members, full time or reserve
- Members transitioning out of Defence
- Partners and immediate family members of serving, ex-serving and deceased veterans
Allied veterans seeking employment support are encouraged to get in touch to discuss eligibility.
There is no cost to candidates at any stage from first contact through to placement.
Employers access skilled, job-ready veteran talent
Veterans bring leadership, resilience, safety awareness and a proven ability to perform under pressure. Workforce Connect works as a recruitment partner rather than a volume agency: we take time to understand your organisation, pre-screen every candidate against your requirements, and stay involved after the placement.
As a not-for-profit service, any revenue generated is reinvested into veteran employment, training and wellbeing programs delivered by RSL WA, so hiring through Workforce Connect strengthens your workforce and the veteran community at the same time

Is RSL WA Workforce Connect free?
Yes. There is no cost to veterans, serving members or family members at any point from registration through to job placement.
Do I need to be an RSL member to access employment support?
No. Workforce Connect is open to the wider veteran community, whether or not you are an RSL WA member.
Can I access support if I'm still serving?
Yes. Current serving members, both full time and reserve, can register as can members preparing to transition out of Defence.
What happens after I register?
A member of the Workforce Connect team will contact you within three business days to discuss your background and goals, identify where you are in your employment journey, and build a tailored action plan
Can Workforce Connect help if I'm not ready to look for work yet?
Yes. The team regularly supports people who aren't job-ready and will work at your pace to put the right supports in place first.
Where is the service available?
Workforce Connect supports veterans and families across Western Australia, with an employer network spanning metropolitan and regional WA.
